About
Graduating in 2009 with an MA in Photography from Leicester De Montfort under the tutelage of Professor Paul Hill MBE and Dr Mike Simmons.
A Post Graduate Certificate in Education PGCE allowed me to gain valuable teaching experience mainly in the Adult Learning sector but also experience in a Primary School delivering photography workshops and support.
I have been an exhibiting and published photographer for over 30 years. My interests encompass all art disciplines within the creative industry, but lie particularly within the participatory art sector as a way to provide access to the arts sector and transform both individuals and communities.
Latterly my full time working life was spent as a Project Manager in the iT industry responsible for high budget iT Projects. That was a laugh I can tell ya.
My pastimes are: photography ( well obviously ! ) art, reading, watching wildlife, looking at things, darning my socks, tidying my garage, walking my dog and Sheffield United FC. I used to run a lot as well.
Context and analysis is the key to my work. I am concerned with the current state of British Contemporary Photography and the country we live in.
My photographs are carefully observed and considered. I have no desire to follow in the accepted pictorial traditions, take pictures according to the accepted rules written in manuals or how others believe a good picture should be. My work is neither truth nor lie, fact or fiction.
My camera is a means of self expression.
Sit tight !
For now.
