Muker Show
I've been documenting the Muker Show in Upper Swaledale since the year 2000. It's my go to yearly event. It has a long history of over a 100 years. The show starts with the Muker Silver Band playing outside The Farmers Arms followed by local dignitaries, show organisers and judges marching up to the Showfield at the back of the village. This officially opens the show come rain or shine. Most interesting for me is the sheep judging, the local Swaledales. To win at Muker is highly prized so it's an intense affair. Over the years I've learned how to get close but yet try to remain discreet and respectful. I've got to know some of the farmers as well. Some of them sheep can be feisty and them farmers don't give much away either.
The Fell Race, a short sharp lung burster (yes I've done it more than once ) occurs at the end of the day. Then it's back to The Farmers for a sing song and a few pints with the band. Glorious !
Below a selection of images from then to present.
